Thank You, Montego Bay!

We brought the magic of MoDAMarket to you a few weeks ago at the S Hotel, and you welcomed us with open arms along with tourists and Jamaicans from all across the island. Featuring 14 artisans and makers, our first trip west was a memorable experience. From clothing, jewellery and dolls to books, pottery and paintings, MoDA Market West had something for everyone.

Shoppers were invited to explore the latest fashions from Mia Kalani displaying her stunning swimwear, Kokobeanz with their flirty, island chic designs and Lee-Ann Designz with her fun and colourful pieces.

Chrissy’s Coils, The KSD Collection and Story and Myth dazzled with beautiful handmade jewellery pieces. While The Craft People had all the mommies and little girls hooked on their crocheted dolls, handmade with love.

Not only was there something for everyone, but MoDA Market West had something for every home and office as well.

Kabreco Designs, Pinto Pottery and Marina Burnel Photography decked the hall with pieces to excite our inner interior decorator.

Sharon Feanny and Pat Wright also served up wellness advice to all the health conscious among us.

ASD drew crowds with a variety of beautifully illustrated pieces while Those Creative People (TCP) with their “one bag a tings” brought it home to the second city with their contemporary totes and fans decorated with Jamaican inspired quotes.

With fewer exhibitors, MoDA Market West embodied a more intimate vibe than our larger market held every November in Kingston. However, this only served to bolster the atmosphere as shoppers and exhibitors laughed and mingled in the space curated and artfully decked out by Pussbackfoot and MoDA’s very own Aiesha Panton.

The market featured a lounge area, a bar, a gorgeous flower wall installation and a complimentary coconut bar that featured beautifully decorated jelly coconuts -  just perfect for the ‘gram.

Our first staging was undoubtedly a success, thanks to our sponsors, exhibitors, staff members, patrons and the city of Montego Bay. And for that, thank you!

So what do you say Montego Bay, see you again next year?
